Biomechanical Foot Orthotics can help with foot or ankle pain, knee or hip pain, back pain, plantar fascitis, “ITB” tightness (pain/tightness on the outer side of your legs,) or piroformis syndrome
By definition, a custom made foot orthotic is a medical device that is made to control the way your foot functions.
What foot orthotics can do for you
A properly prescribed foot orthotic inserted into your shoes will correct abnormalities in your biomechanical function (the way your body moves,) thus reducing pain, providing support, and preventing foot deformities from progressing with age.
By correcting the biomechanics of your feet, we can improve the mechanics of your knees, hips, and lower back during weight- bearing activities.
The combination of good “hands-on” therapy to improve your body’s symmetry and function in addition to the aid an orthotic can provide in your biomechanics can assist you in obtaining long-term relief.
Getting fitted for the “right” foot orthotic
Getting fitted for an orthotic is a multi-step process. Foremost, a good orthotic is dependent on a good evaluation of your overall history and a thorough “biomechanical evaluation.” This consists of a series of detailed measurements not only of your feet but of your lower body as well, and a gait analysis using a treadmill and videotape of you walking at different speeds.
We then make a plaster cast of your feet in a neutral position and determine what kind of orthotic correction would work best for you. Lastly, we use a manufacturer who uses the highest quality technology and materials to construct an orthotic that is custom to you and not pre-molded for mass production. To learn more, visit the Stride Custom Orthotics website
